About the role

Job Type Full-time Description <p> The Senior EHS Manager ensures that different workplace settings meet safety and health requirements and coordinate through General Contractor (GC) that corrective measures have been applied as and when necessary. The position is project-based and working on-site with CHQ and GC team members and construction personnel to ensure all OSHA standards are followed. The position part of CHQ’s EHS team that oversees the GC’s implementation of proactive safety programs or policies which establish project safety rules, process for inspection of working environments, identification, and correction of hazards, investigate incidents/accidents, and implementation of post-injury follow-up procedures for workers. This position is working at an active construction sites under development for a new data center sites.</p><p><br/></p><h3>PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</h3><ul><li>Routinely monitor GC’s EHS performance to ensure the Project contractors are in compliance with written EHS plans, policies, procedures, practices, government regulatory requirements, and any additional CHQ expectations or deliverables that have been identified in the contract</li><li>Ensure compliance and implementation of CHQ’s global health and safety programs that may exceed regulatory requirements</li><li>Support CHQ’s VP EHS when presenting current data on contractor’s EHS performance, including trending, incident investigation and management, EHS metrics and other key information</li><li>Conduct a daily EHS audit of active datacenter construction Project with a member of the GC’s EHS team to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirements</li><li>Drive a standardized and harmonized approach across the Project to maximize efficiency and effectiveness</li><li>Maintain a working knowledge of the EN50110 standard and experience providing safety guidance for those working on medium voltage electrical systems</li><li>Ensure the GC is managing high-risk activities including electrical safety, excavation, fall protection, material handling and crane operations, etc.</li><li>Communicate and problem-solve in collaboration with GC and contractors </li><li>Develop and conduct training on construction safety topics with a wide variety of trades</li><li>Maintain adequate safety recordkeeping and data integrity</li><li>Consult and partner with the CHQ’s Senior EHS Director for interpretations and guidance</li><li>Support the GC during incident investigations and root cause analysis, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified, communicated globally, and corrective actions implemented</li><li>Work with the GC’s leaders, staff, and contractors at all levels to implement effective safety solutions</li><li>Participate in GC’s communication methods, such as all-hands safety meetings and notices to ensure relevant EHS information is communicated to the workforce across the site by the GC</li><li>Participate in GC’s monthly Project safety committee meeting</li><li>Participate in GC’s monthly Project safety leadership committee meeting. Meeting must be led by CHG Project Management and GC’s Project Management</li><li>Conduct daily field JHA or PTP audits</li><li>Support the GC and contractors in conducting risk and hazard assessments</li><li>Ensure KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and EHS data submitted by the GC is accurate, timely, and complete</li><li>Participate in Project progress and schedule meetings where EHS is impacted</li><li>Assist in design reviews throughout the Project Life Cycle (i.e., planning, design, permitting, construction, Cx, and handover to operations, etc.)</li><li>Support the development of the CHQ DC Construction EHS Program Manual</li><li>Provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers</li></ul><h3><br/></h3> Requirements <p> </p><h3><strong>JOB QUALIFICATIONS</strong></h3><p><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</p><p><strong>Experience:</strong> 5+ years’ experience with majority experience in EHS in major mission critical construction projects. </p><p><strong>Credentials:</strong> GSP, CHST, or Preferred<br/></p><h3><strong>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES</strong></h3><ul><li>Experience managing high-risk activities including electrical safety, excavation, fall protection, material handling and crane operations</li><li>A background working with specific trades such as electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters etc. and understanding the complexities of multi-employer worksites</li><li>High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information, excellent judgment, discretion, and diplomacy</li><li>Self-directed and driven to deliver with quality</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information to leadership within CHQ</li><li>Excel
