Sr. Manager, Insights (Analytics) - Central Product Insights

As a Senior Manager on the Central Product Insights Team (CPI), you’ll be responsible for developing, driving, and managing scaled analytics-based insights products and services that empower stakeholders across Riot’s entire portfolio. You’ll also lead foundational investigations into player behaviors and patterns on behalf of Riot’s executive product leadership team, helping sharpen our portfolio and product strategy. In doing so, you will need to collaborate tightly with Game insights leadership, central product leadership, and CPI researchers, data engineers, and data scientists. You’ll lead a team of analysts, setting priorities, guiding their work, and growing their skills as you shape and improve the team’s suite of central analytics products and services. Your sharp technical background, management experience, and deep understanding of game analytics solutions will ensure that you’re an effective leader able to craft and achieve a strategic vision regarding Riot’s CPI Analytics needs and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and manage a suite of scaled analytics-based insights products focusing on game behaviors and play patterns (e.g., dashboards, automated solutions), in collaboration with customer needs across Games and central product leadership.
- Set roadmap/priorities and manage team resource allocation for central game analytics, navigating tradeoffs between building new products/services, improving existing ones, and running foundational studies on behalf of executive product leadership.
- Partner closely with Game insights leadership and central product leadership to understand their needs, align on scope and goals of CPI Analytics work, and communicate the vision for CPI services/products.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering as an embedded function to productionalize analytics-based insights products, and also to identify opportunities for improvements to central game data architecture, systems, and processes, and guide embedded data engineers on the implementation of these improvements.
- Lead a team of analysts and guide partnerships with embedded data engineers, data scientists, and researchers to ensure a strong technical, impact-oriented, and collaborative culture.
- Serve as an analytics craft expert for game insights, including looking for ways to uplevel and upskill the team, bringing new methodologies and expertise areas to the group, and holding a strong craft bar for quality of skill sets.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional work experience in analytics or data science, with 3+ years managing technical or operations-focused teams.
- Proven experience designing, building, and scaling analytics-based insights solutions such as live Tableau dashboards in a matrixed or otherwise complex environment, for both technical IC users as well as senior/executive stakeholders
- Applied experience in large-scale data analysis, such as significance testing, clustering, regressions, propensity score matching, and other advanced statistical methods as needed.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python/R for large-scale data analysis in distributed computing environments (e.g., Spark or cloud-based platforms like Databricks, Snowflake)
- Strong working knowledge of Tableau as well as tools for data transformation and data pipeline automation (e.g., DBT or Airflow)
- Experience working with data engineering, product leadership, and senior stakeholders to align on scope, metrics, and delivery. Proven experience leading complex, strategic projects across multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong executive communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership. Proven ability to present to and partner with both technical and non-technical audiences, including insights teams, data engineering teams, and senior management.
- Passion for player experience, systems thinking, and shaping portfolio-wide player understanding and strategy. Track record of building strong, collaborative relationships with both peers and senior stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience and domain expertise working with live service game telemetry to empower stakeholder decision-making on game teams.
- Deep understanding of the games industry, including Riot’s game
