SR. SOURCING SPECIALIST (MAINTENANCE)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned category
- Forecast demand volume and optimize ordering strategies to balance inventory levels and minimize purchase frequency for high-consumption maintenance parts
- Expedite sourcing, ordering, and delivery of parts needed for urgent repair work
- Create sourcing strategies for internally designed tooling, mechanical components, and COTS hardware
- Develop a preferred supplier network and leverage it to minimize cost and lead time for delivery of parts; vet and onboard new SpaceX suppliers to further optimize cost and lead time
- Manage outsource fabrication and repair projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating timeline, and managing vendor performance
- Utilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings benefit while lowering risk
- Perform onsite reviews of vendor capabilities
- Develop service agreements, contracts, and blanket purchase orders with key Maintenance suppliers to reduce cost and improve response time
- Author supplier contract documents with the legal department
- Oversee contracts by engaging with stakeholders to measure supplier performance and drive accountability to contract obligations
- Coordinate with suppliers, Maintenance Engineers, and Technicians to identify substitute parts for obsolete or long lead time components.
- Create, revise, and maintain spare part documentation, part information, unique supplier info, manufacturer, and OEM technical specifications required to source alternate hardware.
- Assess component lead times, costs, and demand quantities based on existing consumption data, upcoming scheduled repair/PM work, and overall supply & demand outlook considerations.
- Ensure necessary tools, parts, and consumables are available ahead of scheduled maintenance activities
- Upkeep machine Bill of Materials (BOMs) with accurate part information
- Manage, execute, and simplify demand signals based on maintenance planning, repair consumption, and existing repair/PM workflows across maintenance, ground, tooling, and automation groups.
- Create tools, dashboards, procedures, processes, and metrics to improve procurement performance and eliminate risks
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree; OR bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
- Engineering
- Purchasing
- Contract negotiation
- Material or production planning
- Operations or supply chain management
- Material cost control
- Master production scheduling
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong skills in data analysis using Excel, SQL, Python, and PowerBI
- Experience working in a high-volume production and procurement environment
- Demonstrated capability to execute >100 Purchase Orders per month
- Familiarity with parts commonly utilized in equipment maintenance (motors, gearboxes, relays, drives, etc)
- Experience managing relationships with dozens of suppliers simultaneously
- Solid understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines including mills, lathes, waterjet, laser cutters, sheet metal fabrication, etc
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse co-workers within the engineering, technician, and leadership teams; ability to have insight into their changing needs
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and other third parties
- Strong analytical, project management, computer, communication, and writing skills
- Experience with MRP or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and with managing bill of materials, work orders, and purchase orders
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed
- This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered.
- Position may require travel up to 10%
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Sr. Sourcing Specialist: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
