Join our innovative team as a Senior Software Engineer in C++/C# - Mechelen Belgium and play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge software systems and tools. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing the lives of individuals with hearing impairments, leveraging our Device Middleware Platform.

  • You will create software following an Agile approach used in a medical device environment with an exceptional quality, create software solutions and user-centric design principles. 

  • You will contribute in the mission to deliver products to help people with hearing impairment or hearing loss for their lifetime. 

  • You will develop libraries in modern C++ for cross platform applications running mostly Windows and designing usable APIs for software client. 

  • You will develop GUI application in C# .NET / WPF environment to support clinical studies. 

  • You will test software components by developing unit tests and integration tests. 

  • You will engage with the collaborative and friendly team culture, share ideas and experiences, and be open and available to the suggestions of others in the team. 

  • You will collaborate with other departments to ensure a credible understanding of the user and business needs and translate this into exceptional software. 

  • You will provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to help resolve customer issues. 

  • You will follow relevant quality procedures to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement. 

  • You will contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables. 

Your Accountabilities 

  • Develop software components for Device Middleware Platform using modern C++ and C# .NET. 

  • Perform peer review for other team member’s code. 

  • Implement product requirements. 

  • Test software components. 

  • Participate in team meetings. 

  • Write and maintain technical documentation of the module or subproject. 

  • Document when necessary or appropriate. 

  • High-quality design and development. 

  • Develop and Perform unit tests, perform integration tests. 

  • Participate in verification activities when necessary or appropriate. 

  • Participate in technical reviews. 

  • Participate in team events and celebrations. 

  • Keep well informed about latest technology developments in software engineering as well as in the audiological field of Cochlear System. 

Key Requirements 

Minimum: 

  • Master in software engineering or equivalent with +5 years of experience in a full lifecycle commercial software development environment. 

  • Demonstrated experience with modern C++ (standards C++11/14).  

  • Good knowledge of object-oriented software development 

  • Experience in GUI designs providing a high-quality user experience. 

  • Familiar with Agile development environments and scrum. 

  • Familiar with hardware integration, electronics and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, …) is a plus. 

  • Good writing skills for purposes of design and code documentation.

  • Good communication skills. 

  • Ability to communicate openly and constructively with other team members, and knowledge sharing within the team and across teams. 

  • Ability to have a broad perspective on technical development. 

  • Working knowledge of the English language. 

Ideal: 

  • Extensive experience in C++20 standard. 

  • Experience with C++/CLI. 

  • Good level of practical experience with C# .NET (WPF) and with developing Windows desktop client applications 

  • Experience in handling web services / cloud 

  • Experience in software design and implementation for medical devices. 

  • Strong interest in medical device development and associated quality regulations. 

  • Familiarity with audio and speech signals and equipment.
