Director – Accounting, Hospitality

About The Role: 

Seaport Entertainment is looking an Accounting Director based in New York to focus on our Hospitality Segment. Reporting to the VP of Accounting and as a key member of the Seaport Accounting team, they will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of our managed restaurants and hospitality partnerships. This position will manage the hospitality accounting team, ensuring all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and compliance requirements are met according to the team deadlines and US GAAP. 

What You Will Do 

Management 

- Lead the Hospitality Accounting team, provide guidance, mentorship and support, ensuring tasks are met timely and accurately. 

- Conduct regular goal setting, check-ins, and team meetings to ensure alignment and accountability. 

- Oversee staff training, ensuring correct processes and high standards are being met. 

Day-to-day Accounting 

- Responsible for accurate and timely financial statements for the Hospitality Segment, ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual processes and deadlines are met 

- Oversee monthly reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts. 

- Oversee cash/restaurant till counts, food and beverage inventory count process. 

- Oversee licensing and management fee preparation and process 

- Act as Accounting approver for the POS and Procure to Pay system changes, oversee the operations processes and ensure they are being adhered to 

Financial Reporting 

- Work closely with the VP of Accounting to ensure that the Hospitality segment accounting is aligned with other segments, provide updates on accounting progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvements 

- Analyze P&Ls monthly as a part of the budget to actuals process, ensuring proper coding of expenses 

- Nurture positive working relationships across operations teams, encouraging collaboration and information share 

- Manage 3rd Party relationships, certifying policies and processes align internally and reporting is timely and accurate. 

- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements. Support the preparation of financial statements and footnotes for SEC filings (10-Q/K). 

- Prepare segment level variance analytics quarterly ensuring a complete understanding of the financials 

- Support senior leadership with Ad-hoc request as required 

About You: 

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 

· Minimum 10 years professional accounting experience. 

· High level understanding of accounting procedures, principles, and US GAAP. 

· Strong leadership and management experience, overseeing teams of 4 or more.  

· Strong system experience, ideally implementing (D365,Toast, Craftable/Crunchtime) 

· Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics or other equivalent ERP system. 

· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to clearly and concisely convey information to stakeholders of all levels 

· Strong analytical skills and a strong understanding of data architecture
