Midé, a Hutchinson Company, is a research and development company focused on sensors and smart materials. Hutchinson is a global supplier to the automotive, aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. Midé’s R&D helps Hutchinson work towards vehicle electrification and distributed industrial sensing, especially industrial internet of things (IIoT) solutions.

Midé has a small company feel with just over 50 people working out of our Woburn office, including over 20 engineers divided between software, electrical, and mechanical. Midé has successfully transitioned a number of its R&D programs to successful product lines ranging from wireless data loggers to critical safety seals used on US Navy ships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete design and development tasks that aid in the successful transition of R&D projects to Products.
Assist with change management duties of Midé’s various product lines in conjunction with Quality Management personnel.
Review and update existing product schematics, PCB design files, BOMs, procedures, and testing protocols as necessary or as dictated by ECO/ECR requirements and/or ISO requirements.
Work with engineering and production teams to optimize device manufacturability.
Work with production and quality teams to ensure documentation satisfies necessary requirements to ensure proper manufacture.
Design, execute, and analyze final tests on products to ensure quality and reliability, and recommend design or specification changes as necessary.
Generate and maintain product level design packages, layouts, and technical requirements based on requirements, whether internally or externally driven.
Configure drawings and layouts to adhere to various restrictions such as ITAR, EAR, SBIR, Proprietary and Confidential restrictions.
Adhere to best practices for documentation and version control.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
BSE (EE, ECE, CS, or similar) required
2+ years of electronics hardware design or test experience required, 3-5+ years preferred
Product / Industrial Engineer experience required
Familiarity with operating in an ISO 9001 environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a US person (citizen or permanent resident)
High technical aptitude for design, analysis, fabrication, testing and repair of electronics, including digital and analog systems
Experience with circuit testing and debug for low noise circuitry
Knowledge of and experience in analog design, and best practices for PCB layout and SMT manufacturing.
Very good software skills with appropriate tools, including:
At least one PCB Design and Electrical Schematic Software (Altium preferred)
At least one PDM/PLM version control software
At least one statistical computing language or package (Python preferred, Excel, JMP, Minitab, or similar)
Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Manufacturing/Assembly Processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS
The ideal candidate will have experience in some of these areas, but we will not reject candidates for lack of experience in these areas:
Experience with guiding ECOs/ECRs, and gaining consensus with affected stakeholders
Experience serving in an electronics continuation engineering role, addressing supply chain issues, test fixture/methodology needs, cross-component analysis and proposal, and PCB Gerber maintenance
Experience in test engineering and automated test equipment creation
Experience designing analog circuitry for measurement
