Pay Rate:
2026-27: Specialized CBWS Hourly Rate ($19.37/hour). This pay rate aligns with the pay scale for Northfield Public Schools and is subject to an annual wage increase.
IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award re-determinations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state/federal work award come Fall 2026. Description of the Position:
The Middle School Youth Center (MSYC) Site Assistant or assists other club leaders by creating and implementing curriculum as well as organizing resources for successful program outcomes. The site assistants will oversee set-up, clean-up and student attendance. They will also enforce program behavioral rules and safety guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the behavior of middle school students to ensure their safety, as well as compliance with behavioral guidelines, rules and standards of the program.
- Assist club leaders as needed and participate in club activities with students.
- Interact with, play with and talk with middle school students on a continual basis.
- Participate alongside students in group games and activities.
- Enforce all health and safety rules of the program including sanitary rules; school rules; rules concerning the use of supplies and equipment.
- Adjust program activities and assist students with special needs, disabilities, maturation and skills differences.
- Communicate regularly with the Middle School Youth Center Site Leader Coordinator and participate in staff meetings throughout the year.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Work hours are on-site, at Northfield Middle School between 3:00 pm – 4:45 pm, Monday through Thursday. Positions start in mid-September and programming runs through mid-May. We do offer flexible scheduling to meet the needs of your semester schedule.
