The Director of Marketing Technology is a strategic and technical leader overseeing Gannett’s marketing technology infrastructure and processes. This role will drive the integration of marketing technology solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing digital marketing capabilities to improve customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. As a key leader within the Enterprise Data Management division, the Director of Marketing Technology will collaborate closely with Marketing, Content, Data Engineering, IT, Analytics, Sales, Customer Service, and Product teams to align technology investments with the overall business strategy. This position reports to the SVP Data Engineering.
Responsibilities
• Understand the business and relentlessly prioritize the roadmap in alignment with our business priorities through partnership with our business stakeholders
• Manage a distributed team of diverse backgrounds, skill sets and technical/functional knowledge to design, implement, integrate, and maintain our marketing technology stack
• Manage relationships with our strategic technology partners, including selection, negotiation, and regular performance reviews
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in marketing tech to improve and innovate our marketing capabilities continuously
• Present roadmaps, strategies, and updates to stakeholders, partners, and executives
• Partner with Support Ops to develop standard processes to alert, assign, remedy, escalate, communicate, and do retrospective analysis of marketing technology issues that arise
• Develop governance processes to ensure the maturity and effectiveness of our marketing technology use
• Adhere to rapidly evolving data privacy and regulatory requirements
• Implement data quality and QA practices to ensure the correctness of marketing operations
• Ensure rigorous documentation of platforms, workflows, automation, ops, and data
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in digital marketing, marketing technology, or related roles, with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership or director-level position.
• Proven experience with Marketing platforms such as CDPs, ESPs, Ad Servers, CRMs
• Demonstrated experience overseeing complex technology implementations and integrations
Desired Qualifications
• Familiar with Agile / Scrum methodologies and principles
• Experience working or partnering with Media companies
• Certifications in relevant marketing platforms

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $150,000 and $175,000. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
