VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County in Rohnert Park, CA is a 24-hour veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment that includes MRI, CT, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, and Fluoroscopy. Utilize your client service skills to the fullest at our state of the art facility and one of California's most accomplished teams of veterinary professionals in Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Emergency and Critical Care services.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This position requires a person who is organized and detail oriented, who will play a critical role in the treatment of our patients. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, thorough, and willing to work as a part of a team to ensure accuracy. This role entails approving medications via online pharmacy requests, communicating directly with clients, and filling medications for inpatient and outpatient orders throughout the day.

The Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for communicating with other team members consistently throughout the day and coordinating patient care needs efficiently. Ensuring correct medications are sent home and reviewing medication instructions is a major part of this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience or training/education working in a medical facility preferred
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with customers
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Telephone and computer skills are necessary
  • Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and accept change, while having the ability to teach others
  • Excellent problem solving, and mathematical skills

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Dependable attendance is required
  • Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions
  • This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
  • Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone

The pay range for this position is between $19 and $21 an hour.
