We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.</p> <p><strong>About the role:</strong></p> <p>The Tax Associate is responsible for income tax compliance including supporting the federal, state and local tax return processes. You will support tax planning and projects.</p> <p>You will report into the Associate Director, Tax.</p> <p><strong>Work Location: </strong>This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid</p> <p><strong>Pay Transparency: </strong>The base pay for this role is: $96,876 - $127,149 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare the U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns and estimates and payments for the corporate holding company and insurance subsidiaries.</li> <li>Prepare state nexus analysis.</li> <li>Prepare sales and use, and other indirect taxes.</li> <li>Maintenance and adherence to tax compliance calendar.</li> <li>Prepare monthly tax journal entries and quarterly tax reconciliations.</li> <li>Prepare financial data, analysis and modeling to support tax projects.</li> <li>Prepare audit and notice responses.</li> <li>Work with areas of Finance and the business to support other tax compliance and planning projects.</li> <li>Identity and implement process improvements.</li> <li>Help with the annual and quarterly GAAP and Statutory tax provisions and forecast modeling.</li> <li>Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>4+ years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a corporate tax department</li> <li>Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting or 4 years commensurate experience</li> </ul> <p><strong>Bonus points:</strong></p> <ul> <li>CPA and/ or Master's of Taxation</li> <li>Experience with preparation of the corporate tax provision</li> <li>
