These programs inform the public about employment, unemployment, and wages for the state and local areas.  We encourage you to apply to become the next leader of our Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program. QCEW is the foundation for labor and other economic statistics in the U.S. The candidate selected for this position will be provided with structured, on-the-job training and succession planning prior to taking over program leadership.  Most members of our team primarily work from home several days a week and some work primarily in our Augusta office. Our full staff usually joins together in the office on Wednesdays. Primary responsibilities include:  

• Oversee a team of full time QCEW team members and part time contributors to the program. Responsible for directly supervising two full time team members.
• Ensure that all deliverables and data quality standards are met according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics quarterly production calendar and program requirements.
• Determine priorities for team members, assign projects and tasks.
• Provide training and guidance, review work to assess that it is completed accurately.
• Analyze, review, and edit data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Research the nature of business to assign industry codes to employer accounts and train other team members to do so.
• Collaboratively see to it that at least 99 percent of jobs are classified to the most pertinent industry.
• Review reported data for quality and work to resolve errors reported by employers with multiple worksite locations via Multiple Worksite Reports.
• Ensure that Annual Refiling Survey responses are sufficient and employer data are reflective of newly reported and relevant information.
• Connect employers using predecessor and successor analysis tools, identify employers involved in changing ownership, mergers and acquisitions.
• Outreach to employers by phone and email to collect data and obtain clarification.
• Respond to requests for information with accurate data, context and analysis.
• Answer questions arising from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics edits and review of deliverables.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Economics, Mathematics, or directly related area and (2) years experience in economic research analysis. Comparable work experience in economic research analysis may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.  

Preference will be given to those applicants:

With advanced experience education and/or training in data collection, data production, data entry, data analysis, labor statistics, economics, or another related field and demonstrated experience in a role working with data. 

and/or

With experience providing mentorship, supervising or leading a team and/or knowledge of industry classification, or related workforce data programs.
