Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Jewelry Manufacturing team is looking for a Production Supervisor to join our HJ Family.
Here's How You Will Make an Impact:
• Lead production operations to ensure schedules are met while maintaining quality standards and cost targets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all production areas.
• Support company goals by improving key performance indicators such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), First-Pass Yield (FPY), and productivity.
What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
Production Management:
• Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards and cost targets.
• Monitor workflow and adjust resources to meet changing priorities and customer demands.
• Participate in the production planning process by providing input on capacity, staffing, and material requirements to support accurate scheduling.
• Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods.
• Prepare and maintain accurate production reports and documentation.
• Serve as the primary liaison between production teams and management, ensuring clear communication of goals and expectations.
Safety & Compliance:
• Enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance (OSHA, MSDS).
• Conduct regular safety audits and lead corrective actions.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability among team members.
• Know hazardous materials used within the work team and appropriate emergency actions.
Quality Assurance:
• Monitor product quality and implement corrective actions for defects or process issues.
• Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce rework.
Team Leadership & Development:
• Supervise and coach production staff, including group leaders.
• Implement cross-training programs and maintain a skills matrix for team development.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback aligned with company goals.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training new employees.
• Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and participate in Kaizen events.
• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OTD, productivity, and cost per unit.
Budget & Equipment Oversight:
• Monitor and control departmental labor and supply costs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
• Understand and explain cost variances within department control and provide action plans.
Problem-Solving:
• Address operational challenges quickly and effectively to minimize downtime.

• Strong leadership and team development skills with experience supervising production staff.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to analyze and explain cost variances and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees and management.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience in production planning and scheduling processes.
• Proficiency in monitoring and improving safety, quality, and productivity metrics.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to move freely throughout the plant and office areas during the workday.
• Lift objects up to 40 lbs as needed.
• Good vision and color recognition for quality checks.
• Ability to work extended hours during peak production periods.
• Tolerance for above-average stress during busy seasons.
