About this role
As Regional Head of Employee Compliance Policy & Advisory (AMRS), you will work closely with your Employee Compliance counterparts and stakeholders across L&C and the firm to implement BlackRock’s Employee Compliance / Personal Conflicts program. This role will engage with regional and global business stakeholders to assure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements, firm policies and industry practices pertaining to, among others, personal trading, private investments, outside business activities, gifts and entertainment, political contributions and business integrity/whistleblower matters. The incumbent will work closely with the head of Employee Compliance Policy & Advisory to implement the framework and related requirements that manage risks of these activities. Additionally, this role will collaborate with the Employee Compliance leadership team (heads of Employee Compliance Policy & Advisory, Employee Compliance Operations and Compliance Executive Support) to implement an optimal operating model that delivers the Employee Compliance program at scale, particularly as the firm continues to evolve.
As a member of the broader Enterprise Compliance team, you will work closely with local and regional teams and internal business stakeholders to provide compliance and regulatory advice on a range of personal-conflicts related matters and issues. You may also deal with relevant regulators and industry associations.
We are seeking an individual with exceptionally strong leadership, people and team management skills and with current or past experience in functions such as: employee-related compliance, code of conduct/ethics and/or conflicts management. This individual should have a strong background in operational processes, business process optimization and financial services, ideally in the asset management or banking industry.
Key Responsibilities
As a senior compliance professional, you will:
- Provide advice to internal stakeholders in the AMRS on a wide range of personal conflicts / activities matters.
- Oversee programs to maintain compliance with local and regional laws and regulations, as well as BlackRock’s policies and procedures and global best practice standards.
- Work closely with senior L&C colleagues to ensure consistency of advice and practices across AMRS.
- Participate in global and/or regional compliance initiatives to ensure consistency, implement new requirements and ensure best practices.
- Monitor local and regional regulatory developments and evaluate their impact on the business and related Employee Compliance programs
- Consult with regional and global compliance and business colleagues, as necessary.
- Evaluate, recommend and implement optimal operating model to appropriately manage Compliance programs at local and global levels
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years relevant working experience in legal and/or compliance at a financial services firm. Operations professionals will also be considered.
- Previous experience as a management consultant strongly preferred.
- Background in employee conduct, conflicts management, operational processes and/or other enterprise compliance programs required.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate, coach and develop teams of all levels of professional experience.
- Ability to work across regions and functions to deliver practical, risk-minded advice and innovative solutions that reflect business priorities.
- Ability to influence and demonstrate impact in engagement with key internal and external business stakeholders of all corporate titles.
- Experience engaging and presenting to senior audiences
- Strong written/oral communication, organizational, and people skills.
- University degree preferred.
