We are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team! As an HRA, you will act as the first point of contact for employees of several departments. The successful candidate will independently apply state human resource rules, policies, and procedures to routine human resource matters while providing outstanding customer service to employees and managers. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Receive, onboard and process new hire information.
- Receive, review for accuracy and process human resources transactions according to civil service rules and bargaining agreements.
- Reviews, processes and maintains payroll information to include edits, and/or manual special pay calculations.
- Track FMLA information in the department tracker.
- Use data analytics program to prepare and analyze complex information to reach conclusions and/or make recommendations regarding payroll functions.
- Explains routine collective bargaining contract provisions, Civil Service law and rules, workers' compensation, benefits, and safety rules and regulations to inform employees and agency officials.
- Answers written inquiries concerning application procedures and position vacancies to respond to requests for information.

- Familiarization with Data Analytics.
- Knowledge of basic human resource administration policies and practices.
- Knowledge of record-keeping procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of employee benefits procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
- Knowledge of state Civil Service law and rules.
- Knowledge of performance appraisal system forms requirements.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
Minimum qualifications:
Education, training, and/or experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of human resource functions. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in payroll systems.
Preference will be given to those applicants:
Applicants with prior payroll system experience, data analytics experience, general knowledge of FMLA and Worker's Comp, and recruiting experience will be given preference.
