Harbor's Edge is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician II [Generalist] to join our Plant Operations Team at our state-of-the-art facility located in downtown Norfolk. Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and ensuring that buildings and systems are running efficiently and safely. This position will primarily respond to indoor work orders. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills in addition to having strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementing and assisting with preventive maintenance programs to keep equipment and systems running smoothly.
- Identifying and resolving issues with building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and others.
- Performing routine repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaks, replacing light fixtures, or repairing minor structural issues.
- Supporting skilled tradespeople with projects and tasks, including tasks like plumbing, pipe fitting, electrical work, and carpentry.
- Adhering to all safety regulations and protocols while performing maintenance tasks.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work performed and reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with at least 1-3 years of job-related experience.
- A strong understanding of building maintenance practices, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
- The ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with building systems and equipment.
- Experience in general maintenance and HVAC maintenance including use of hand tools and other tools of the trade.
- The ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of skilled tradespeople.
- Consistently demonstrate service excellence and tact when interacting with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
