About the role

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Engineering. 
  • Deals with department heads to ensure their operating problems are solved.  
  • Meets with both internal and external customers in order to solve problems. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Under the direction of the Director or Engineering, organizes the maintenance and repairs of the hotel building and plant following the guidelines in the Technical Maintenance Manual.
  2. Regularly inspects plant rooms and guest to identify problems. Liaisons under contractors are required.
  3. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, ensures hotel water systems are properly treated.
  4. Participates in all safety and security programs.
  5. Maintains maintenance logs and records.
  6. Orders day to day maintenance purchases in accordance with IHG purchasing policy.
  7. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, ensures the departmental training plan is implemented.
  8. Attends such seminars and training course to further his education as may be necessary.
  9. Sits on hotel committees for energy savings and any others at the request of the Director of Engineering.
  10. Attends meetings and hotel training sessions as required by hotel management.

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to maintain confidently of all employees, guests and hotel information 
  • Capability to answer all phone calls using the proper phone etiquette of Hotel InterContinental Standards
  • Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions. 
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure. 
  • Ability to focus attention on details. 
  • Must be able to maintain a highly positive and friendly image that will reflect well on hotel’s overall appearance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
  • Must be conscious of culture differences.
