About the role

Northeast Delta Dental in Concord, NH is looking to hire an onsite, full-time Manager of our Accounting Department to lead, manage, and coach the Accounting Staff to meet the needs of the business by ensuring effective workflow and coordination of accounting activities with the activities of other departments. The Manager of Accounting directs and monitors the Accounting Department staff to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of accounting information that is used to prepare financial statements and is the basis for analysis that is used to monitor the financial condition of the Corporation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING:

Ensures efficient performance of the department through balancing human and technical resources; contributes to ongoing improvement processes.

Motivates team to achieve goals through regular coaching; administers policies and procedures to assure consistency; monitors and counsels direct reports in an ongoing development process; assures compliance with safety practices and procedures.

Manages, plans, allocates, and monitors work flow through the department to assure the accurate and timely completion of assignments within established time frames; provides on-the-job training and guidance to staff and makes decisions regarding employment, performance appraisal, salary recommendations and related human resource actions.

Manages all accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions for multiple companies including: managing information and workflow, disbursements to vendors, cash flow and collections of receivables, account analysis, claims hold processes for delinquent accounts and contract renewals, billing interface to the accounting system and all related processes including production of remittance statements for group accounts, analyzing sales figures, month- end and year-end closing procedures, Administrative Services Only (ASO) billing, broker commissions, Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and file transfers, bank reconciliations, ERISA reporting, 1099 reporting, stale dated check process and abandoned property reporting, stop payments, non-sufficient funds (NSF) transactions, cash receipts processing, lock-box processing, bank deposits, maintenance of company files and archives, updating of the underwriting database with accounting transactions, maintaining departmental inventory, special account and special product billing, general ledger postings, claims download procedures, funding bank accounts to pay claims, automated integration programs for customer information and A/P and A/R transactions, and all related reports and sch
