Plan, develop, and execute internal and external event strategies to maximize BMO's image and reputation through the enhancement of the customer experience. Leverage opportunities and identify synergies across businesses/groups. Measure and evaluate the performance of events, and report on results. These events are highly visible and involve clients as well as senior-level executives. The role involves project management, onsite execution, partner relationships, sourcing internal and external vendors/suppliers, risk management, venue research & negotiations/contracting and overseeing special projects. Must represent the organization with professionalism and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a strategic plan for specific events, managing end-to-end event execution, including venue sourcing, contracting, event logistics (F&B, hotels, venues, transportation, branding), event production (staging, A/V), event attendee communications, staffing plans etc.
- Prepare briefing materials, agendas, and schedules.
- Create and lead post event debriefs
- Plan, forecast, and manage against a defined event budget, and partner with marketing and business partners on budget reporting and reconciliation
- Coordinate deliverables with marketing strategy and creative services team including graphics, literature, promotional items, etc.
- Manage event technologies, such as registration (Cvent), mobile apps and other event platforms or technologies (AI)
- Act as a strategic partner to the business by recommending improvements to previous events, implementing industry best practices, suggesting innovative ideas and cost efficiencies.
- Manage and executes all types of events including conferences, recognition events, customer events, sponsorship & charity events, large employee initiatives, and other special events.
- Leverage partners across business/group(s) to effectively coordinate events.
- Manages relationships with vendors and suppliers, which include contract negotiation.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience executing events and or relevant experience
- Bachelors’ degree in event management/hospitality, marketing, communications, or a related field
- Event Planning College Certificate and/or Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation considered an asset(s)
- Technical proficiency (including AI) gained through education and/or work experience
- Professional polish and ability to interact with senior executives and clients
- Team player, motivated and committed, self-starter and quick learner, confident, assertive.
- Strong people skills, willingness to accept and provide direction, ability to work independently
- Ability to work in ambiguity and under pressure, as well as handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to react quickly, remain calm in high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts on site
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solid executive presence with the ability to tailor communications accordingly
- Strong communicator
- Analytical and problem-solving skills - In-depth.
- Fundamental understanding of banking as well as knowledge of products and services
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Adobe Acrobat
- Strong knowledge of Cvent and or SMMS tools
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Salary:
$81,400.00 - $151,800.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
