Join Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems team as a Master Technical Drafter to provide technical and operational product definition and design support to the engineering military programs.
What You Will Do:
- Perform substantially varied and highly complex tasks to include 3D modeling skills and graphical product definition; creation of 3D models to support design; perform general design tasks, including support of parametric CICR content, tolerance stack-ups, and input of engineering standard work.
- Create Model-Based Definition with tolerancing per ASME Y14.5. Apply and interpret geometric form control for manufacturing and inspection. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. Apply and understand key concepts of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Unigraphics/NX, and Teamcenter/NX Manager.
- Self-check own work to ensure accuracy and adherence to Product Definition Standard Processes in the communication of Design Intent, which includes the ability to apply and interpret Geometric Form Control to ASME Y14.5M- standards; Create error-free parametric 3D models and other definition files to meet Design intent and Product Definition standard work using the UGS NX graphics software; Self-check model/tolerance files (using the UGS NX graphics software) meeting Product Definition standard work which includes the application of tolerancing techniques per part family Engineering Standard Work and must consider manufacturability and inspection considerations.
- Assist in orienting, training, assigning, and mentoring the work of less experienced practitioners.
- Act as a go-to resource for resolving complex issues and escalate only the most challenging problems to higher levels.
- Travel up to 10% (Domestic).
Qualifications You Must Have:
- An Associate degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with 10 years of combined experience in design or product definition, 3D solid modeling, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance at the Secret level is beneficial. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Associate's Degree in a related field i.e. Drafting/Design Technology.
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing professional certification.
- General Manufacturing Processes.
- Familiarity with bearing compartments and gear drive systems.

Department/Segment Overview: The Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering organization is responsible for the design, development, and in-service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models.
