Wolfram|Alpha Junior Developer (Independent Contractor)

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking a motivated Developer to join its Wolfram|Alpha Math Content department. The Wolfram|Alpha Junior Developer will help enrich and improve the mathematics content of Wolfram|Alpha. They will specialize in designing and implementing new content for the Wolfram|Alpha family of products, including step-by-step solutions and Wolfram|Alpha Notebook Edition. The ideal candidate will be an independently driven team player with fluency in mathematics who has strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Developing mathematics content for the Wolfram|Alpha website
• Providing feedback and peer review of projects in meetings and on pull requests
• Working with team members to plan, scope and design projects
• Investigating and solving bugs in legacy code

Qualifications:

• College degree in math, computer science or a related field
• Familiarity with Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language
• Comfortable with math pedagogy
• Motivated and self-driven
• Ability to work with a team
• Expertise in probability/statistics is preferred
• Fastidiously clean programming habits is preferred
• Background in math or math-heavy subject matter education (teaching, tutoring, textbook writing, course design/planning, education technology, etc.) is preferred
• Background in scientific or data analytic fields is preferred
• Familiarity with JavaScript or other programming languages is preferred
• Multilingual skills is preferred
• Fluent in English
