PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The hiring range for this position is $27.19 - $33.99.
This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate will work an average of 40 hours per week until September 30th, 2026. The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical Benefits as well as accrue paid time off and receive 11 paid holidays.

The Real-Time Crime Center Intelligence Technician role is a unique and crucial part of the Aurora Police Department’s (APD) Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). As an RTCC Intelligence Technician, you will be at the forefront of providing lifesaving information to first responders through video feeds, license plate reader information, and other integrated data sources. Your analysis and provision of video searches and data retrieval for all types of criminal investigations will be instrumental in maintaining public safety.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Manages the collection of criminal intelligence data for entry into information storage and retrieval systems.
Monitor RTCC software suite for automatically generated alerts and respond if needed.
Monitor police dispatch frequencies and help as issues arise.
Complete incident reports and after-action reports as needed.
Familiarity with the video surveillance grid layout and be aware of various districts' threats and challenges.
Understand emergency procedures and evacuation procedures for multiple public venues.
Identify suspicious criminal activity and assist in effective response.
Operate and monitor internal and external surveillance cameras and state-of-the-art surveillance programs.
Ensure all components of the Video Integration Center surveillance equipment operate according to expected standards and protocols and report issues as needed.
Effectively maneuver multiple surveillance cameras to understand a situation, document events, and assist with investigation regarding suspicious activity, property damage, acts of violence, etc.
Work closely with sworn law enforcement.
Maintain the confidentiality of policy and procedure documentation, emergency response and notification information, administrative material, and database information.
Handle digital and physical evidence of a confidential nature, following proper chain of custody
Provide testimony in Municipal, State, or Federal court as necessary regarding criminal investigations.
Report critical information during life-or-death situations such as crimes in progress, medical emergencies, and fire/rescue incidents.
Read/interpret maps for the public, field personnel, and other agencies to assist in locating certain geographical areas; interpret telephone call locations from maps by applying knowledge of local geography to provide real time information to responders.
