About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will analyze, audit, and ensure accurate and timely data within automated system in an effort to identify sex offenders failing to re-register; provide subject matter expert case support to troopers within the Firearms Sex Offender Investigation Unit (FSOIU); analyze data within the Virginia Sex Offender Management System (VSOMS) to ensure data has been entered in a timely manner and is accurate; develop detailed reports based on specific VSOMS analysis; review and analyze re-registrations to determine if registrant(s) has failed to comply pursuant Title 9 of the Code of Virginia; provide critical information to sworn members so appropriate arrests can be made, which also protects the Agency from a wrongful arrest and civil liability; determine if subject was incarcerated, deceased, hospitalized, or absconded during re-registration period; provide re-registration credit to registrants when necessary due to different variables; and provide case support to FSOIU troopers regarding sex offender compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to sex offender registration requirements; of research, data collection, and analyzing techniques; and of general office practices, procedures, and equipment.
•Skill in using computers, Microsoft Office applications, and database programs to create dashboards and spreadsheets, as well as retrieve data and records for Sex Offender Registry and Firearms and Sex Offender Investigative Unit management.
•Demonstrated ability to research and interpret of sex offender registration requirements; to analyze and interpret registrations forms; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to develop, review and maintain process improvement projects and ongoing enhancements; and to work independently or as part of a team and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other division units, federal and state agencies, and the public.
•Experience retrieving, analyzing, and interpreting sex offender registrations requirements, criminal history data, automated records required.
•Progressively responsible administrative experience in researching and analyzing data from a variety of sources.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either being a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.

•Experience working in a criminal justice or public safety environment preferred.
