DUTIES: Work on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development. Be responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope. Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge. Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas. Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements. Work under consultative direction and use independent judgment to accomplish objectives. Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Conceive and plan investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program. Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary analysis across engineering disciplines and other functions. Determine and lead the implementation of the best solutions. Support validation and verification of system architecture, reliability, and safety. Prepare, propose, track, and report technical action plans. Prepare, review, and present technical materials (reports, presentations, drawings, analysis). Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field required. Thirteen years of experience in the job offered or a related position required, including any experience with: the fundamentals of reliability and safety engineering and certification requirements (Part 23 or Part 25); Flight Control Electronics Engineering (embedded D0-178 software and D0-254 hardware, system and software design, requirements management, system specification, and desktop simulation); system engineering methods for highly integrated systems; system development and integration in the aerospace sector; APR4754A for system development and for requirement writing and validation; interfacing systems including avionics and flight dynamics for the integration into FBW Flight Controls System design; 25.1309 compliance to support FHA/SSA development and reviews; SAE ARP4761; MATLAB analysis of Flight Controls System failure modes and effects; and with reviewing designs and demonstrating compliance to FAR/EASA regulations based on applicable guidance including DO-160 and MIL-STD-810. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and 13 years of experience, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and 11 years of the above-listed experience OR a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and 9 years of the above-listed experience is acceptable. International and national travel up to 25%.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.
