Senior Investment Strategist

At Vise, we're building the future of investment management—powered by technology and driven by advisor needs. As a Senior Investment Strategist, you will play a key role in shaping our investment research, portfolio design, and platform capabilities. Reporting directly to the Co-CIO and working closely with our investment and product teams, you’ll lead research initiatives, design innovative portfolio strategies, and translate complex investment ideas into scalable, technology-driven solutions.
This role is ideal for a highly analytical, market-savvy investment professional who excels at solving complex problems, developing differentiated strategies, and driving thought leadership. You’ll focus primarily on research, portfolio design, and the strategic frameworks that underpin our investment approach—while also collaborating cross-functionally to bring these ideas to life on the Vise platform. While this is a research-forward role, a client-first mindset is essential; you must be equally comfortable communicating with internal stakeholders and engaging with advisors when needed to ensure our solutions meet their evolving needs.
What you bring on day one:
- Experience
- 5+ years of experience in investment research, portfolio strategy, or asset management
- Expertise in asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk modeling, or security selection
- Familiarity with advanced portfolio techniques such as direct indexing, tax optimization, factor investing, and systematic strategies
- Demonstrated success in developing and scaling investment frameworks or productized solutions
- Proficiency in Python and SQL to support research workflows, performance analysis, and custom data modeling
- Bloomberg fluency and experience with portfolio analytics platforms
- Experience working with product and engineering teams to build investment solutions into digital platforms
- Experience authoring investment research and/or white papers, or marketing commentary
- Examples of research, frameworks, or tools you have built from the ground up

- Insatiable intellectual curiosity, particularly around financial markets, portfolio strategy, and the evolving needs of RIAs and their clients
- Must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail by rigorously reviewing and quality-checking not only your own work but also cross-functional deliverables, ensuring all investment outputs, platform features, and client-facing materials meet the highest standards of accuracy and consistency.
- Highly analytical with a strong foundation in capital markets and portfolio theory
- Self-motivated and outcome-driven, with the ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects from ideation to execution
- Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Able to clearly articulate complex investment concepts in writing or visuals for internal and external stakeholders
- Driven by the opportunity to tackle novel challenges and advance the frontiers of portfolio construction and advisor-focused technology.
- Comfortable operating in a performance-oriented culture with occasional off-hours work to meet key deadlines
- Education
- Undergraduate degree is required
- CFA Institute Charterholder is preferred
What you will own:
- Custom Index Research & Strategy Development
- Conduct in-depth research on portfolio construction methodologies, direct indexing techniques, tax optimization strategies, and systematic/factor-based tilts
- Analyze and enhance custom index models and strategy templates across asset classes, with a focus on scalability and personalization
- Build tools and analytical workflows that support the design, deployment, and evaluation of custom index portfolios at scale
- Develop proprietary investment frameworks that enable high levels of customization based on advisor and client objectives (e.g., ESG, factor exposures, sector preferences, tax constraints)
- Author thought leadership pieces, investment commentary, and internal research to inform advisors and shape the platform’s investment narrative
- Cross-Functional Strategy Projects
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Investments teams to translate research into core platform features and functionality
- Design, refine, and validate models powering direct indexing, tax-loss harvesting, and customized factor exposures
- Lead research-backed initiatives to enhance advisor and client outcomes, including automation of portfolio personalization and enhancing Vise’s proprietary opt
