Job Description

The Test & Reliability Intern position with Hobart Food Machines is designed to give students the hands-on exposure to daily engineering operations, projects and research that impacts new product development, manufacturing, and product quality  Food Machines is looking for a self-directed, results-oriented individual to help develop solutions benefiting the product line and department. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on in projects within electrical and mechanical disciplines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Focus on specific operational, engineering, and quality processes
• Begin understanding of standards, procedures and practices
• Become familiar with use and application of standard test equipment and devices
• Learn basic organizational and problem-solving skills via technical investigations on subassemblies or machines
• Gain familiarity with Food Machines products through tear down and analysis of field machines
• Design and build of test fixtures for new product releases and engineering design changes
• Testing, data collection, analysis and reporting on new products and engineering change requests
• Baseline electro-mechanical and food product testing of mixers, slicers, food preparation and meat room equipment
• Technical reporting and presentations to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Electro/Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent degree-seeking program
• GPA of 3.0 or above
• Proactive in recognizing improvement opportunities
• Mechanical skills and experience using basic hand tools
• Familiarity with PCBs and experience PLC programming a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point, (experience with pivot tables a plus)
• Fast learner with capability to grow in a variety of laboratory projects
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical knowledge

• Material Handling:  Ability to lift, move, and manipulate up to 50 lbs.
• You will work in a team-oriented laboratory and office environment.
