Assistant Director Videoboard Operations - Blue Devil Network

 

Occupational Summary:

Requirements include an undergraduate degree; at least two years working video production experience with a college or professional sports team; demonstrated video shooting, editing and production skills; an understanding of proper lighting techniques; a grasp of existing and emerging technology; a solid understanding of marketing and promotional theories and practices; outstanding communication and organizational skills; and expertise with video editing and graphic design systems such as Adobe Creative Suite products.

 

Under the direction of the Associate Director of In-Venue Productions, the Assistant Director of Videoboard Operations will be responsible for all videoboard broadcasts for Duke Athletics. Working closely with Duke’s Marketing, Promotions, Internet Operations and various other departments, the job will encompass designing and managing in-game entertainment needs, coordination of production crew, producing the videoboard show for Football and Men’s Basketball games, and helping to fulfill sponsorships elements on game days and other on campus events.

 

Work Performed:

 

**Oversee day-to-day operations of all videoboard broadcasts for Duke Athletics

 

** Manage freelancers that makeup the crew for live productions

 

** Responsible for graphic presentation on all videoboards, including Game-In-Progress look and all animated graphics. Use Ross XPression to create graphics for the videoboard and ensure all content is uploaded and ready for game day.

 

** Work with Duke Technical Services to help maintain and support videoboards

 

** Oversee/create all creative content that will be displayed on videoboards, including motion graphics and hype/motivational videos

 

** Work with Marketing staff to produce and direct videoboard shows for Football and Men’s Basketball games.

 

** Work with Learfield to fulfill sponsorship needs on the videoboard

 

** Stay current with broadcast trends around the country

 

** Have a working knowledge of emerging technologies as they develop

 

** Work with Duke Athletics facilities and game operations staff to make sure all facilities are up-to-date for videoboard operations

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

Work requires the ability to perform skilled and creative graphic arts functions generally acquired through an associate's degree in graphic or commercial arts or a related field.

 

Experience

 

Work generally requires three years graphic arts or related experience OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE to acquire considerable knowledge of and skill in complex design, layout, and commercial arts methods and techniques and an ability to analyze and interpret art needs of various publications and communications programs. A bachelor's degree in graphic or commercial arts or a related field may be substituted for experience on a 1:1 basis.
