Position Summary:

This position provides day-to-day professional HR support and policy administration to businesses. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted advisor to the plant manager/site leader and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:  Recruiting, Employee Engagement, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Employee Relations, Benefits, Wellness, Compensation, Performance and Talent Management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a partner to business stakeholders and provides technical and analytical expertise in various aspects of the Human Resources function.
  • Works with Division stakeholders to support recruitment activities including assessing current resources/partnering agencies, recommending new innovative technology-based solutions, and improving ongoing process improvement. 
  • Acts as employee engagement champion – coordinates the delivery of engagement surveys, works with leadership to analyze results, and advises on action plans. Facilitates awareness of engagement and cultural opportunities within the business.
  • Provides guidance and support on daily general employee relations issues and special HR projects.
  • Supports the ITW performance management cycle, advising and coaching in areas of goal setting, mid-year feedback activities, annual performance review, and the compensation planning process.
  • Organizes and conducts new employee orientation; creates a positive first impression of the company and serves as a role model for ITW values.
  • Inputs and maintains employee data in the HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting.  Prepares regular and special reports using HRIS.
  • Prepares employee communication documents including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices and related documentation.  Assists in the dissemination and collection of data and forms.
  • Works with ITW corporate human resources or third-party providers, as necessary, in management of employee life cycle processes and transactions.
  • Manages compensation planning of all non-exempt production and technical roles using wage surveys. 
  • Stays up to date on legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions and ensures compliance in policies, procedures, and reporting.  Active role in development of the Division Affirmative Action Plan. Ensures compliance with required legal postings on bulletin boards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or similar field of study.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in Human Resources role with recruitment experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Strong business partnership capabilities.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to our changing business, help assess talent, and become familiar with our industry and its implications for our division.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results within a team environment, to develop relationships at all levels, and to appropriately challenge or influence decisions.
  • Strong coaching and influence skills for managers and supervisors across various functions.
