Job Description
Purpose:
As the VP of Infrastructure Engineering, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of the core infrastructure that supports our mission-critical software services. You’ll be expected to develop, implement, and maintain a strategic plan for evolving our production environment and systems to achieve strategic business goals. You’ll partner closely with our software engineering teams to ensure the joint success of our offerings.
One of the key challenges will be to upgrade and update our existing infrastructure while maintaining the reliability and durability our customers have come to expect. You will work to develop a strategic direction for the platform, hire and retain top engineering talent in infrastructure, and establish strong communication channels with the other areas of the business.
You will ensure a high level of service while delivering business value and ensuring a broad adoption of your team’s tools and services across Engineering.
While this is a senior position requiring strong people leadership skills, we expect our engineering leaders to have a strong technical background in order to properly steer and guide the organization.
Job Description:
- Organize and lead our global infrastructure team of over 80 engineers for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Establish a clear vision and strategy for the evolution of Intelerad
- Execute the vision and strategy allowing for incremental changes and improvements without significant downtime or service disruptions (planned or unplanned)
- Set organizational, departmental, and individual goals which are measurable; holding each accountable for the outcomes
- Drive results through regular leadership and mentoring
- Maintaining the highest levels of infrastructure and service reliability, durability, and security which our partners rely on and expect from Intelerad
- Participate and collaborate cross-functionally with groups such as product management, sales, customer success, support, and finance incorporating feedback from these stakeholders into the overall infrastructure platform and operation
- Scale the organization and infrastructure platform reducing human intervention as needed by automating any repetitive operational activities and measuring the normal operation of the platform
- Be a positive role model that others want to follow and be inspired by
- Identify gaps in processes and tasks. Be an advocate of new ideas to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related concentration
- 10+ years of experience managing managers and senior technical leaders, and distributed teams of 100+ individuals
- Experience with distributed global data center management, vendor negotiations, and running an IaaS or PaaS platform
- Experience leading a variety of teams including: DevOps, data center operations, database, network engineering, and software engineering teams
- Experience developing a plan to upgrade existing infrastructure while maintaining a high level of service to existing customers
- Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, open-source projects, and public cloud offerings
- Demonstrated ability to drive down cost and increase efficiency through process improvements and hardware innovation; participation in and/or a working knowledge of the Open Compute Project is a plus
