About the role
The Financial Reporting Manager will lead the preparation and oversight of the Company’s consolidated financial statements for a global food manufacturing organization with operations across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. This role is responsible for quarterly and annual external reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP, monthly and quarterly internal reporting, foreign currency translation, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation activities. This position will support timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes. The position serves as a SAP super-user and plays a key role in financial analysis, audit support, debt compliance, and continuous improvement of internal controls. The role partners cross-functionally, supports corporate initiatives including acquisitions and special projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of the Company’s consolidated financial statements including:
- Manage the preparation of quarterly and annual external financial statements in compliance with US GAAP requirements.
- Manage monthly and quarterly internal reporting, including the preparation and review of the consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure the accuracy of the Company’s consolidated financial statements.
- Maintain schedules and supporting documentation for consolidations and financial statements.
- Support timely and accurate completion of month-end activities including ensuring accurate journal entry postings and review of balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Oversee the foreign currency translation and US GAAP conversion of foreign subsidiaries.
- Oversee analyses of key financial metrics and financial variances.
- Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of US GAAP.
- Research accounting guidance to determine appropriate reporting requirements.
- Perform monthly inter-company reconciliation, profit elimination, and consolidation.
- Lead preparation of quarterly debt compliance calculations and documentation.
- Support the year-end audit including direct interaction with the independent auditors.· Serve as super-user for SAP.
- Support additional Corporate Accounting initiatives including:
- Continuous evaluation and improvement of internal controls.
- Manage the preparation and filing of government census reports.
- Assist with due diligence, integration, and other projects related to planned acquisitions, expansions, or other special projects.
- Provide support to outside departments, as needed.
- Support other Corporate Accounting initiatives and responsibilities, as necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field. CPA is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of consolidation and financial reporting experience, preferably in a multinational environment. Relevant experience with Big 4 public accounting firm preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in performing financial analysis to include: g/l account reconciliation and analysis, forecast and trend analysis, budget to actual analysis.
- Experience with SAP/BPC will be an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote, as well as other relevant software tools.
- Proficient experience in researching and applying accounting principles and concepts.
