The Position:

FanDuel Sports Network is seeking a Director, Media Systems Engineering to join the Engineering Team. Reporting to the VP, Engineering this position

will lead the architecture, administration, storage, and evolution of our production content asset management systems and infrastructure. This role is crucial to ensuring efficient, scalable, and innovative media workflows enabling seamless collaboration between production teams and driving the adoption of cutting-edge technology in media management. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of media asset management (MAM) systems, expertise in LTO archives and cloud storage solutions, and a passion for leveraging new technologies, such as generative AI, to enhance content workflows.

This role can be located in: Southport, CT, Atlanta, GA, St. Louis, MO or Los Angeles, CA.

The Game Plan:
(What you will do)
 

System Architecture & Administration

• Oversee the architecture and administration of production content asset management (MAM) systems, including Avid MediaCentral, Sony Ci, and Frame.io.
• Design and maintain the architecture of video ingest and playout servers to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency in media workflows.
• Collaborate with local media managers to establish and enforce media lifecycle and metadata standards.
• Evaluate existing systems and lead efforts to consolidate redundant toolsets, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Media Ingest & Playout

• Manage the administration and operation of video ingest and playout servers to ensure seamless acquisition and distribution of content.
• Optimize workflows for ingesting live and recorded media, ensuring timely and reliable availability for production teams.
• Monitor and maintain playout systems to support broadcast and streaming requirements with high reliability and minimal downtime.

Media Archives & Storage

• Manage regional LTO archives in partnership with regional Chief Engineers and media managers.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for current archive solutions, including Telestream SGL FlashNet, MassTech MassStore, and Diva.
• Develop and execute a strategic plan to migrate LTO archives to cloud storage, ensuring intelligent metadata preservation and generation for improved media accessibility.

Workflow Optimization

• Define and implement strategies to enable remote access to high-resolution media for remote editing and delivery workflows.
• Work directly with MAM providers to explore and deploy new features that enhance content accessibility and efficiency.

Technology Innovation

• Research and explore emerging technologies, including generative AI, to automate content generation and maximize revenue opportunities.
• Lead initiatives to integrate innovative solutions into existing workflows, ensuring FanDuel Sports Network remains at the forefront of media technology.

The Stats:
(What to bring)

• 10+ years of experience in media system engineering or content asset management roles.
• Extensive hands-on experience with MAM systems such as Avid MediaCentral, Sony Ci, and Frame.io.
• In-depth expertise in video ingest and playout systems, including architectural design and management in live production environments.
• Deep knowledge of LTO archives, including Telestream SGL FlashNet, MassTech MassStore, and Diva.
• Proven track record in migrating on-premises storage to cloud-based solutions.
• Experience enabling remote media workflows in high-pressure production environments.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of media lifecycle management, metadata standards, and video ingest/playout workflows.
• Expertise in system architecture design for ingest and playout servers, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Ability to evaluate and streamline redundant tools and workflows.
• Proficiency in exploring and implementing new technologies, including AI-driven solutions.
• Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and production teams.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, G
