Job Summary
Under the direction of healthcare providers, the Medical Assistant supports both clinical and administrative operations to ensure a seamless patient experience and efficient practice workflow. This patient-facing role is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical histories, coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, and assisting with patient education regarding treatments, medications, and care plans.Additional responsibilities include collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing phlebotomy when qualified, administering immunizations (as permitted by certification and experience), maintaining vaccine inventory, and supporting departmental quality and safety initiatives. The role also serves as a resource to junior Medical Assistants by assisting with onboarding and day-to-day guidance while collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other departments to deliver exceptional patient care.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Preferred
Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Managing one's own time and the time of others.
