About the role

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Serves as the IT strategic leader for the purpose of business/IT strategy development which includes but not limited to solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. Proactively provides executive updates, shares knowledge of technology risk, roadmaps, and programs. Help aggregate IT business demand, prioritization of programs or projects and includes cost visibility. Facilitates clear agreements and effective communications between clients and IT. Partners with the executive to evaluate the benefits of IT initiatives and priorities. Serves as a partner to Information Technology (IT) leadership and various business units in the integration of new systems and enhancement of existing systems and/or processes. Contributes to the development of area business plans, including business and production metrics to meet objectives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with clinical or operational leadership to discover strategic opportunities where information technology and innovation can significantly improve the delivery of health care.
  • Works with IT leadership and business units to develop and understand the business case and business requirements to solve for technology related business problems. Anticipates business and regulatory issues; recommends product, process or service improvements. Leads projects with notable risk and complexity and develops the strategy for project execution.
  • Builds highly effective partnerships, and resolves all relationship issues between IT and operations, and senior leadership.
  • Assists in business relationship management, business strategy and planning, portfolio/demand management as needed. Solves unique problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.
  • Establish and maintain contacts at the highest level of decision-making authority within client organizations. Shapes, manages, prioritizes and constructs unique, compelling value proposition that is ROI/performance-based for each client that improves patient outcomes, solves their pain points and is based upon Advocate Aurora Health’s unique competitive advantages and core competencies.
  • Maintains productive relationships with peers and management in IT and the business function. Articulates business value and strategy and coordinates with all areas of the IT department to ensure technology is fully leveraged to achieve operational excellence. Researches how other organizations in the market to achieve or 
  • exceed industry best practices in key performance metrics.
  • Construct and manage IT pipeline, highlighting key projects and resource allocation strategies, ensuring the status for each prospect is properly tracked and updated. Participates in clinical, business, or operational strategy planning, so that IT can understand business strategies and to help leaders envision strategies that are technology-enabled.
  • Facilitates clear agreements and effective communications between the clinical, business, and operational team members and all IT team members. Communicates to IT the current and future strategic directions and information needs of clinical and business operations and aligns it with IT’s strategic planning. Partners with executives to evaluate the benefits if IT initiatives and prioritize those initiatives.
  • Analyzes initiatives, in the project portfolio, and identifies specific, measurable outcomes expected for each initiative. Implements processes and tools to measure benefits associated with individual projects.
  • Impacts the direction and resource allocation for entire programs, projects or services while working within general functional policies and industry guidelines.

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field

Typically requires 7 years of experience in evaluating internal information systems technical needs and functioning as the interface between operational and technical experts

  • Knowledge of leading-edge applications of information technology in health delivery

  • Demonstrated strength as a strategic thinker with ability to understand the business direction and goals and their potent
