The opportunity
This is an onsite based position with some possible remote working.
This role supports Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs within the Fairfield facility.
As the site EHS leader, you will play an active role in supporting the company’s environmental, occupational health, safety, and sustainability (EHS) efforts to drive long-term company and stakeholder value.
The individual in this role will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant facility for all employees in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
This position plays a key role in aligning and integrating an EHS culture that promotes an optimistic, collaborative approach throughout all site activities.
How you’ll spend your day
- Influence employees at all levels of organization to achieve and maintain a strong culture of EHS in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Implement and improve upon the EHS management system that supports EHS objectives in accordance with site requirements, corporate guidelines, local law, and continuous technical developments
- Oversee and directly responsible for EHS related permits and compliance obligations (i.e. air, wastewater, hazardous waste, life safety, etc.)
- Manage site occupational health programs such as: laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, workers compensation, and return to work
- Responsible for employee EHS training and emergency response team activities
- Manage EHS undertakings, auditing, procedures, and KPIs to align with site and above site objectives
- Address high risk work activities and perform incident investigations along with development of Corrective Actions as needed
- Support ESG and continuous improvement objectives through project execution
- Track and manage departmental spend to remain within annual EHS budget
Your experience and qualifications
- B.S. in an EHS related field (safety, IH, environment), or another related field (i.e. engineering)
- Master’s degree or other certifications preferred – e.g. CSP, CIH, CPE
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in EHS, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- History of sustaining compliance obligations and working well with external regulators
- Aptitude to work independently and prioritize to continuously improve site EHS standing
- Pharmaceutical and/or GMP experience a plus
- Experience with EHS software a plus
