Job Duties

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services Policy Analyst in the Behavioral Health Division.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

This position is responsible for supporting the Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) team on a day-to-day basis by assisting in the development and management of policy initiatives.

This involves having an understanding of all ARTS policies and business-as-usual operations to help drive the development and management of new policy initiatives and modifications to the ARTS Benefit with the overall goal of reducing substance use disorder-related fatalities in the Commonwealth. Functions will include analyzing and interpreting existing policy as well as assisting with the development of new policies and regulations.

Position will serve as a subject matter expert for the ARTS benefit, with an emphasis on special projects and new initiatives developed by the ARTS team and the Behavioral Health division.

The position you are applying for is an Hourly/Wage position. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than an average of 29 hours a week and cannot exceed 1500 hours during their employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Considerable experience with substance use disorders.

Considerable experience working with or for health care service providers.

Experience of Medicaid.

Experience of program development/planning/implementation.

Considerable experience with Microsoft Office products.

Considerable experience in interpretation and application of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Considerable experience in meeting deadlines.

Considerable experience working with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Experience with the Virginia General Assembly.

Experience with medication for opioid use disorder and harm reduction services.

Experience with strategic planning.

Experience with policy development, analysis, and/or implementation.
