The Manager Quality and Technical Standards reports the Director of Quality & Chief Inspector with responsibility for the continuous quality improvement activities, and deployment of quality standards across Technical Operations (TechOps) to ensure the consistency and standardization of processes and procedures to enhance the safety, compliance, and efficiency of TechOps.  The Manager Quality and Technical Standards utilizes aviation industry formats and quality conventions to explain complex ideas and concepts in clear and easy to understand language that will enable users to perform specific tasks in specific ways. The Manager Quality and Technical Standards is familiar with relevant FAA regulations, advisory materials, FAA SAS documentation requirements, and Safety Management System (SMS)

This position requires effective communication across all areas of Operations, including Technical Operations, including our Approved Providers.

Here’s what you’ll do

• Analyze the needs of the Maintenance Organization per the Continued Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP).
• Oversight and execution of strategic initiatives across TechOps and Fleet Programs to ensure consistent and standardized approach to processes and procedures.
• Create, develop, write, and maintain new and existing policies, procedures, and programs under the direction of the manual authorities.
• Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other personnel or writers.
• Study data and conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts to understand the company’s policies, procedures, and programs.
• Work with Quality Assurance Auditors to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the entire CAMP organization, system, related processes, and procedures.
• Ensure supporting data and analysis assistance is provided to responsible departments, as needed, to expedite the corrective action process to support the CASS, including the performance of Safety Risk Assessments.
• Ensure interfaces between functions, departments and manuals are aligned, including as a liaison for compliance initiatives for FAA and General Maintenance Manual (GMM) updates.
• Cross reference documents, regulations, advisory materials and manuals.
• Liaise with company 119 Management Personnel to ensure alignment with responses and corrective action to regulatory and industry agencies such as FAA, IOSA, DOD, etc.
• Maintain knowledge of revisions to FAA regulations and advisory materials.
• Prepare rough drafts of the publication for review with the subject matter experts.
• Responsible for the quality of materials after publication
• Foster an environment in which quality, safety, and compliance is everyone's concern.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality and Chief Inspector

Here’s what you need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Degree in Aerospace, Aviation Maintenance, or English/Technical Writing or equivalent educational achievement
• Understanding and working knowledge of FAR part 5, 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, and 145
• Understanding and working knowledge of IOSA and DOD Maintenance requirements
• Minimum of 4 years of FAR 121 air carrier aircraft maintenance experience
• Understanding of Safety Management System (SMS) rules
• At least two (2) years in management or a leadership role
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have authorization to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
• Must be flexible and willing to work, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed.
• Must be willing to support occasional travel, 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of Aviation Maintenance experience with at least two years in a technical writing discipline.
• Hold a current, valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P) with no history of infractions.
