We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Scientist to lead our efforts in developing, maintaining, and evaluating nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) programs. This role is vital in fostering a culture of inquiry, translating research into practice, and supporting our organization’s strategic goals, including maintaining Magnet designation.Position OverviewThe Nurse Scientist is a leadership role responsible for advancing nursing knowledge through research and evidence-based initiatives. As a change agent, the Nurse Scientist shapes a work environment that supports inquiry, innovation, and the integration of research findings into clinical practice. This role involves engaging nurses in research activities, translating evidence into practice, and supporting lifelong learning to elevate nursing excellence across Bloomington Hospital.The Nurse Scientist’s work aligns with the organization’s strategic plan and the goal of maintaining Magnet status through fostering a culture of research, inquiry, and excellence.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate nursing research and EBP programs.
  • Lead research initiatives, including design, implementation, and dissemination of findings.
  • Foster a culture of inquiry and bridge the gap between research and practice.
  • Engage nurses in research activities, EBP projects, and translational efforts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support research and quality improvement efforts.
  • Promote continuous learning, professional development, and evidence-based excellence.
  • Support organizational goals related to research, innovation, and Magnet recognition.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Education:
    • PhD in Nursing or Healthcare-related field required.
  • Licensure:
    • Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
    • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience leading research activities in healthcare settings.
    • Knowledge of research methodologies, study management, and data analysis preferred.
    • Expertise in evidence-based practice implementation and translation of research findings.
    • Experience in teaching, lifelong learning, and mentoring is a plus.
