 Sequel’s flagship product, the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System, launched in July 2025 for people with type 1 diabetes providing them with personalized diabetes management.  

Job Overview 

The Senior Director, Market Access will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful adoption and reimbursement of Sequel’s products by securing broad payor coverage. Reporting to the SVP of Market Access and Trade, this leader will develop and execute strategies to build relationships with commercial insurers, Medicaid programs, and other key stakeholders to establish coverage and access for Sequel’s innovative insulin delivery device.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties 

Market Access Strategy 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive market access strategies to secure coverage and reimbursement for Sequel’s insulin delivery device. 

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities with payors, including commercial insurance providers, Medicaid programs, and other reimbursement entities. 

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, and Clinical, to align market access initiatives with overall company objectives. 

Payor Engagement 

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers at payors, including pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and managed care organizations (MCOs). 

  • Negotiate contracts, coverage policies, and reimbursement terms to maximize patient access and product adoption. 

  • Develop and deliver compelling value propositions, supported by clinical, economic, and real-world evidence, to demonstrate the value of Sequel’s products. 

Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) 

  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to develop health economics models, cost-effectiveness analyses, and real-world evidence to support payor discussions. 

  • Utilize data to articulate the clinical and economic value of Sequel’s products in alignment with payor and provider priorities. 

Operational Excellence 

  • Monitor changes in the reimbursement landscape, including regulatory updates and emerging trends, and adjust strategies accordingly. 

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements in market access and payor engagement activities. 

  • Track and report key performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of market access initiatives. 

Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Partner with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure alignment between market access and field execution strategies. 

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to the organization on access-related challenges and opportunities. 

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the SVP of Market Access and Trade, contributing to the overall commercial strategy. 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Policy, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred. 

  • 10+ years of experience in market access, reimbursement, or managed care, with a focus on medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare technologies. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Proven track record of securing payor coverage and reimbursement for innovative healthcare products. 

  • Experience working with diabetes care products or other chronic disease therapies is highly desirable. 

  • Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare reimbursement landscape, including commercial payors, Medicaid, and regulatory frameworks. 

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers at all levels. 

  • Analytical and data-driven approach to developing and presenting value-based arguments.
