The Co-op program is designed to enhance the quality and scope of learning by providing students the option of integrating academic study with related, work-based learning.  Applicants must be enrolled in the undergraduate Bachelors degree program and available for an alternating rotating 3-semester schedule; this is not a one-semester internship.  Masters degree students will not be considered.  This first rotation is for August-December 2025; expected graduation date should be in 2027 or later.  Students will be working on-site at our Lafayette, Indiana location fulltime hours Monday through Friday. This is a paid position but we don't offer housing assistance so only local candidates will be considered.

 

Supports engineering activities to develop practical solutions to defined engineering problems based on engineering/scientific principles, outline of objectives, constraints, possibilities and interface requirements. Investigates technical approaches and develops associated equipment, method, experimentation and measurement to advance product performance. Designs preliminary schematics and modifications for new designs or proposed modifications to existing designs. Builds and troubleshoots/debugs prototypes. Assists in the design, construction, test and check out of test equipment. Collects and analyzes data during testing, evaluates validity of solution to the defined problem, prepares reports on findings and makes recommendations. Provides technical support to marketing and production during product transition from design phase to production phase. 

 

• Conduct Compliance Tests as part of the Verification and Validation process 
• Design, build, and document equipment used for testing new and existing products 
• Inspect, test and evaluate product to ANSI Specifications or other applicable specs. 
• Interpret test requirements and develop spreadsheets to record and evaluate data and test results 
• Author reports and give presentations as required 
• Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers. 
• Support and adhere to Company's Code of Conduct ant Ethics Policy. 
• Perform other duties as assigned or required. 

The position consists of at least three Rotations working in the General Engineering Lab.  Time will be split between verification and validation testing of new and existing electricity metering product as well as a Continuous Improvement Project.

(First Rotation) 

•    Introduction to Compliance Testing and Applications (80%)
•    Continuous Improvement Project Focused on Test System Design and Automation (20%)

 

(Second Rotation)

 

•    Advance Compliance Testing and Applications (50%)
•    Continuous Improvement Project Focused on Test System Design and Automation (50%)

 

 (Third Rotation and Beyond)

 

•    Advance Compliance Testing and Applications (20%)
•    Continuous Improvement Project Focused on Test System Design and Automation (80%)
