St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Leader in the Same Day Surgery department (ASU).
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of care in the perioperative setting.
Schedule: Full-time Day Shift, 36 hours/week
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Prior perioperative surgical skills and experience in area of interest.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to lead and manage a team.
Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.
Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
Knowledge of surgical scheduling system such as EPIC.
Familiar with policy review, staff scheduling, and incident reporting follow-up.
Empower, motivate, and coach colleagues.
Provides leadership and promotes team building among staff.
It’s accountable for colleague compliance with patient safety and clinical outcome standards: HealthStream's, usage compliance, elimination of falls with injury, pressure ulcers, etc. Always communicates effectively and professionally.
Clinically maintains proficiency as ASU nurse and is a resource person for the equipment and supplies utilized in the unit.
Accesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care and accurately documents the administration of patient care.
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, laws and standards such as Joint commission , Dept of Health , Gift of Life and Centers of Excellence.
Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and constantly reevaluates based on changing situations including prioritization of emergencies to improve delivery of patient care.
Acts as a patient advocate and protects the patients’ rights through safe and ethical practice and documents all interventions appropriately.
Delegates work to the care team appropriately and plans delivery of care according to patient acuity and staff competencies.
Evaluates and prioritizes activities of daily schedule to meet changing unit demands.
Uses frequent rounding to assess daily flow and patient care needs.
Serves as a clinical resource reflecting a working knowledge of the specialty best practices.
Takes responsibility for maintaining and communicating equipment functionality, inventory, and availability.
Utilizes down time constructively by demonstrating a proactive approach in supporting role for other members of the care team; ensuring smooth running of department.
Works independently and utilizes needed personnel and informational resources appropriately.
Effectively manages human and material resources and identifies opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
Supports staff scheduling, and clocking practices.
Thinks critically and autonomously resolves conflicts with the minimum of supervisions. Recognizes how and when to refer issues to nurse manager.
Support follow-up activities for incident report resolutions.
Maintains professional image during stressful situations, displaying courtesy toward patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
Acts as liaison between PAT, OR, PACU, inpatient units, environment services, biomed and SPD.
Responsible for assignment of Nursing Staff, with consideration of complexity of the patients' conditions, expertise of nursing personnel, and technical needs of the procedures.
Oversees and directs the duties of assistive personnel.
Provides education along with nurse educators for training and remediation, to staff regarding daily clinical practice, flow, and the importance of efficiency.
