Responsibilities
Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II for the Office of Local Health Services to assist with researching, assessing, creating, and compiling resources for a media package that educates, promotes, and increases awareness about the Prevention Agenda, New York State’s Health Improvement Plan. In addition, this resource would provide support to local health departments and hospitals in engaging the public and potential partners in Prevention Agenda activities.
While working with the Office of Local Health Services team, the Hourly Project Assistant II will become familiar with the New York State Department of Health organization, policies, procedures, and activities. They will have opportunities to engage with various offices within the Department, in addition to local health departments, hospitals, and other organizations where appropriate. The Hourly Project Assistant II will gain hands on experience related to the process of developing and disseminating public health education materials and resources at the New York State Department of Health and how to engage stakeholders to influence public health outcomes.
This position is part of the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program and the purpose is to help strengthen career pathways to public health by bringing together students of all disciplines and academic levels with public health professionals to create a space of exploration, learning, and development. This position will last approximately 10 weeks from 9/14/2026 to 11/27/2026.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or have completed, a degree, certificate, or training program in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated digital literacy skills, including digital organization skills
Familiarity with multimedia platforms
Proficient with graphic design tools (Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
Experience preparing, reviewing, or editing reports, correspondence, presentations, or other written documents.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience organizing and managing multiple projects or assignments while meeting established deadlines.
Experience maintaining accurate records, managing data, or performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities.
Conditions of Employment
Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 11/27/2026. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Travel up to 10% of the time will be required.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
This position is fully onsite and does not allow telecommuting.
