SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Director of Financial Aid. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the accurate, timely and compliant awarding and processing of federal, state, and institutional aid programs. The Director of Financial Aid must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full time, exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week. This position reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and is paid $75,000-100,000 annually.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer ongoing standards of fiscal stewardship of MCAD’s financial aid funding in partnership with institutional stakeholders.
- Assess the effectiveness of the financial aid program and collaborate with the Vice President to make adjustments in financial aid strategy.
- Hire, train and supervise department staff.
- Construct standard student expense budgets to accurately reflect total cost of attendance based on required state and/or federal guidance.
- Provide comprehensive financial aid counseling to all prospective and enrolled students and their families.
- Coordinate and review financial aid applications by packaging and awarding aid.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop the budget for financial aid spending.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of financial aid regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Enrollment Management to formulate financial aid awarding policies and procedures.
- Administer scholarship programs while ensuring scholarships are awarded according to donor requests and policy.
- Monitor satisfactory progress, policy, and procedures in accordance with Title IV Federal Regulations.
- Complete reports, data surveys, and program applications for federal, state, and private agencies as required.
- Manage annual financial aid audit and prepare internal fiscal reports as needed.
- Administer computer systems used in the Financial Aid Office, including Powerfaids.
- Serve as Chair of the Financial Aid Appeals Committee and on educational or institutional committees as appropriate.
- Represent the Financial Aid Office at student events held by the Admissions Office, student orientation, and as required.
- Represent MCAD at external events and conferences.
- Maintain memberships and active involvement in applicable professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Represent MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has supervisory responsibility for the Associate Director of Financial Aid, Senior Financial Aid Counselor, and work study employees.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree, required.
- Six (6) years of responsible and successful leadership in financial aid or enrollment management, required.
- Demonstrated ability of successful data-driven financial aid strategies for both domestic and international students, experience with data management, predictive modeling, and aid integration with the admissions process.
- Expert knowledge of Title IV Federal Student Aid and state regulations, required.
- Ability to analyze financial aid operations regarding program compliance and system support, required.
- Expertise with U.S. Department of Education Systems (COD; NSLDS; EDconnect; SAIG) and high-level understanding of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a department in a cooperative environment, required.
- Proficient in College Board PowerFAIDS software or equivalent, required.
- Strong database skills, including advanced experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, required.
- Skills in adaptability, independence, attention to detail, prioritizing, and problem solving, required.
