Overview

Hematology/Oncology Infusion Clinic - Per Diem

 

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced nurse to join the ambulatory oncology infusion team at Dartmouth Cancer Center. The Oncology RN will provide specialized nursing care to Hematology/Oncology patients undergoing treatment.  Duties include administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy and supportive care medications and procedures (ex: transfusions) and patient education. The ideal candidate would have oncology experience with a Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card from ONS but will train the right candidate. As our Hematology/Oncology Infusion Department continues to grow and expand, we are looking for nurses with an unwavering commitment to professionalism, nursing excellence and teamwork.

 

Our clinic treats patients Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, from 730am to 6pm. Opportunity to cross train to pediatrics available. When you join the DCC team you are not just taking a job, you are making a difference in people's lives.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine patient needs, including physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects.
  • Chemotherapy and Infusion Therapy: Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other IV medications according to protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Symptom Management: Monitor and manage side effects related to cancer treatments, such as pain, nausea and fatigue.
  • Actively seeks feedback and acts to improve performance.
  • Patient Education: Provide education to patients and families on treatment plans, medication management, side effects and self-care strategies.
  • Engages in the governance of practice.
  • Patient-centered care, critical thinking and committment to supporting patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.
  • Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.
  • Collaborate with ancillary departments, healthcare teams and physicans to support patients individualized needs.
  • Assumes authority and accountability for the nursing care of patients while appropriately delegating elements of care to others members of the care delivery team in accordance with laws, regulations and policies and procedures.
  • Prioritizes and organizes time to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Actively seeks out the most current evidence and standards and applies and translates to daily practice.
  • Role models a culture of inquiry, developing new knowledge by contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level.
  • Communicates effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice.
  • Actively partners with others to effect change that produces positive outcomes through the exchange of knowledge.
  • Precepts the student nurse, nurse extern, nurse resident, experienced clinical nurse and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
