Position Summary
The role of the Registered Nurse – Pain Management Procedures (the “PMP”) reports to the Director of PSH. This position performs pre- and post-procedure patient care, assists physicians, and prepares sterile environments. This position is responsible for assessing pain levels, administering medications, monitoring patients during and after procedures, and educating patients on pain management strategies. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail for medication accuracy, and excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration and patient communication
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Assess and document patient pain levels using various scales and patient feedback.
- Monitor patient's condition before, during, and after procedures, including vital signs and pain response.
- Assist physicians during pain management procedures, such as spinal injections.
- maintain a sterile environment for the procedure.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and medications are available.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Monitor patients for adverse effects from medications.
- Provide discharge education to patients after pain management procedures.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and the care team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical logs and care plans.
- Assist in the transfer of patients to the recovery area.
- Participate in cleaning and preparing the procedure room for the next case assisting with post-operative cleanup.
