West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Laboratory Medicine (PALM) seek a Clinical Microbiologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice predominantly in the areas of Medical Microbiology. Additional fellowship training or experience/ ability and Interest to cross-cover other areas of clinical pathology such as transfusion medicine, molecular diagnostics and/ or informatics will be given preference. There is tremendous potential for candidates to collaborate on research and scholarly activities with faculty across WVU departments. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent, or a PhD, and be board certified or board eligible in Medical Microbiology by either the American Board of Pathology or the American Board of Medical Microbiology, as well as be eligible for a state medical license. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
About the Department: WVU PALM is a diverse and expanding team of over 40 faculty specializing in all areas of anatomic and clinical pathology as well as laboratory medicine and anatomical sciences. Clinical services are supported by advanced Digital Pathology and Telepathology systems, and state-of-the-art ancillary testing (IHC, cytogenetics, FISH, NGS) is performed onsite. Faculty research activities are supported by the PALM Tissue Bank, Research Histology Lab, Brain Bank and the Rapid Development Laboratory. The Department serves West Virginia University Hospitals, the premier regional referral center for West Virginia and parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The institution offers a collaborative professional environment, advanced technology, and highly regarded clinical programs.
