AVP, Technical Accounting & Administration Manager – P&C Treaty

The role will cover management of team that supports end to end processing of the P&C treaty business. This incorporates contract intake, technical accounting, claims handling and cash management of the reinsurance assumed business. Ensure that the team is following the company's established policies and guideline consistently. Responsible for providing technical guidance and support on complex issues and transactions. Collaboration and engagement with cross functional stakeholders across underwriting, claims, finance etc. Process control monitoring while ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations. Ensuring continued team development while supporting organizational vision will be key.
• Reviewing financial statements and reports prepared by the team to ensure that they are accurate and in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
• Providing technical guidance and support to the team on complex accounting issues and transactions
• Monitoring and enforcing compliance with GAAP, IFRS 17 and other relevant regulations, including staying up to date on changes and communicating them to the team
• Overseeing the team's work to ensure that accounting policies and procedures are being followed consistently
• Managing the team of accounting and administrative professionals, including setting goals and objectives, providing feedback and coaching, evaluating performance, supporting team development
• Overseeing the cash management process for the Chicago office, including monitoring cash balances and forecasting cash needs
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure that cash management aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the organization
• Reviewing and approving transactions to ensure that they are in compliance with relevant sanctions and embargoes
• Overseeing quarterly close process and relevant control compliance to ensure accurate reportings
- At least 8 years’ experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry in the technical accounting & administration operations, preferably with reinsurance entity.
- Commercial education in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance and/or reinsurance.
- College degree in Financial and / or accounting education or equivalent work experience.
- Technical expertise: The candidate should have a strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS 17 and other relevant accounting regulations, as well as experience with complex accounting issues and transactions.
- Organizational skills: The candidate should have strong organizational skills and be able to manage their team and workload effectively.
- Communication skills: The candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to effectively communicate accounting concepts and ideas to team members and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail: The candidate should have a high level of attention to detail and be able to accurately review financial statements and reports to ensure their accuracy and compliance
- Leadership: As the head of the team, the candidate should have strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and guide their team towards achieving their goals.
- Problem-solving skills: The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills and be able to identify and address accounting issues and challenges as they arise.
- Interpersonal skills: The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position. Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay Range for roles performed in IL: $130,000-$180,000 base salary per year.
Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance.
