Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs preventive maintenance, analyses, maintenance and repairs to all electrical and mechanical equipment and controls in a production environment. 

Works on a 12 hour or 8 hour rotating shift.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

Performs electrical troubleshooting and repairs.                             50%                    Receives work orders from supervisor or gets breakdown information from production lead person.  Troubleshoots electrical problems using manufacturers schematics and manuals.  Uses ammeters, ohmmeters, thermocouple calibrator or other equipment to repair.  Replaces printed circuit boards.  Assists the equipment support person as needed with electrical repairs of the support equipment.  Performs some building electrical maintenance such as installing lights, outlets and troubleshooting small electrical dysfunctions.  Maintains building heating and cooling systems.   

Performs mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.                          25%           

Changes out gearboxes and motors.  May make repairs to motors and gear boxes such as changing bearings, wireing repair, etc.  Tears down extruders to repair.  Assists production to change out polish or finish rolls.  Cleans, sand blasts and flushes the rolls as needed for production.  May assist the tooling employee with change overs for production changes.  May tear down the dies and clean as needed.  Changes grease injectors, bushings, bearings etc on trim presses.  Changes pneumatic cylinders.
