Job Summary
The Substance Use Counselor’s role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. The Substance Use Counselor will provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to assist recovering individuals in preventing relapse and promoting long-term recovery. The Substance Use counselor will use an outcomes-based approach and evidenced-based practices to achieve results. The compensation range is $60,000 - 80,000 annually, based on experience certification and licensing. The role requires occasional on-call, and rotating Holiday coverage.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external Hygea Healthcare treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
- Conduct individual, group, and family sessions, using evidence-based modalities and interventions.

Education and Experience
- Licensed Clinician: Possess a master's degree in a relevant field and hold the required licensure, such as LCPC, LCSW / LMSW, or LMFT / resident in marriage and family therapy.
- Experience in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment: Bring prior experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, with a preference for experience in detox practices.
- Crisis Management Skills: Proficient in providing support to clients during moments of crisis, equipped with effective verbal de-escalation techniques.
