Position Summary
Are you looking to build a meaningful career in public service? The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking a highly motivated Administrative Assistant to support the Director’s Office.
In this role, you will serve as the primary personnel liaison, vehicle coordinator, and timekeeper for the Director’s Office. You will help manage the Director’s calendar, coordinate sensitive information, and ensure that all confidential materials are handled with consistency, quality, and timeliness.
Qualified candidates must possess the equivalent of four years of college and at least two years of professional experience.
The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and time‑management skills, the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment, effective analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, at least two years of professional human resources experience, and experience gathering data, preparing reports, and supporting smooth office operations.

Position Essential Functions
- Under general direction of the Director of the Department of Central Management Services, functions as an administrative assistant to the Director’s Office, performing a variety of responsible and complex assignments, which may be of a sensitive or controversial nature requiring a comprehensive knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
- Conducts studies and investigates problems affecting agency operations.
- Serves as the primary personnel liaison and vehicle coordinator for any area without a dedicated liaison.
- Serves as timekeeper for areas without a dedicated timekeeper.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private org
