Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional VP, Medical Strategy to lead the scientific and medical vision behind BGB’s new business, pitch, and growth-focused initiatives.

 

This senior medical leader will shape the scientific narrative that anchors our pitch strategy, bringing clarity, credibility, and strategic insight to every new business opportunity. The VP will leverage deep therapeutic expertise and exceptional storytelling abilities to translate complex science into compelling, strategically aligned narratives that differentiate BGB and inspire prospective clients.

 

As a key member of pitch leadership, this role will partner closely with Creative, Brand Strategy, Engagement Strategy, Account Management, and Business Development to deliver integrated scientific thinking across all pitch and early-client engagements. The VP, Medical Strategy will also serve as a scientific ambassador for the agency, modeling excellence and elevating medical strategy capabilities across teams.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

Scientific Leadership for New Business

  • Serve as the primary scientific leader for new business pitches, setting the tone, narrative arc, and strategic grounding for all scientific storytelling.
  • Synthesize complex scientific, clinical, and market data into clear, compelling narratives that support creative concepts and strategic positioning.
  • Present scientific insights and data-driven rationale during pitches with clarity, confidence, and authority.

Strategic Partnership & Narrative Development

  • Partner closely with Creative Directors, Brand Strategy, Engagement Strategy, and Account leads to shape integrated pitch stories grounded in science.
  • Ensure scientific insights serve as a catalyst for creative ideation, omnichannel strategy, and differentiated recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Business Development leadership to evaluate new business opportunities and refine strategic/pitch approaches.

Therapeutic Landscape & Insight Generation

  • Lead analysis of competitive dynamics, disease-state insights, MOA, clinical data, and emerging scientific trends to inform pitch strategy.
  • Identify “white space” storytelling opportunities that set BGB apart in competitive reviews.
  • Anticipate future client needs through ongoing monitoring of therapeutic pipelines and category evolution.

Client-Facing Scientific Excellence

  • Act as the senior medical representative in pitch presentations and early-stage client engagements.
  • Build trust with senior medical, commercial, and scientific stakeholders by delivering authoritative, accessible, and strategic medical POVs.
  • Support transition into new engagements by shaping early scientific frameworks and strategic direction.

Medical Strategy Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor medical strategists, scientific communicators, and medical writers contributing to new business and growth initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, rigor, and curiosity across the agency.
  • Strengthen BGB’s scientific storytelling frameworks, tools, and processes.

Thought Leadership & Capability Building

  • Elevate BGB’s external and internal scientific profile through thought leadership, strategic point-of-view development, and best-practice frameworks.
  • Support evolution of BGB’s medical strategy offering to ensure industry-leading capabilities in science-driven storytelling.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Ensure alignment across all strategic, creative, and operational partners during pitch development.
  • Facilitate seamless collaboration across disciplines, driving clarity, scientific rigor, and cohesion.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in medical strategy, scientific affairs, medical communications, or related areas, ideally within a healthcare communications
