The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the diagnostics division.

The Senior Medical Research Coordinator will manage and coordinate the scientific studies between Abbott and the broader external key opinion community.  Overall, this role will maintain and drive the Core Medical Global Strategy in scientific research for one of Abbotts most dynamic and active divisions.

What You’ll Work On

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and implement agreements that maximize the collaborative experience and support Medical and Scientific activities on time and in budget.
  • Responsible for timely communication of contract issues to study teams that could impact project timelines.
  • Work closely with Licensing, Legal, OEC, Collaborators and Abbott PIs to resolve contract issues.
  • Understand procedural/study process to develop and maintain documentation according to departmental policies.
  • Manage and Coordinate the global scientific studies that maintain and build the scientific performance of Abbott Core Diagnostics (Core Dx) Medical.
  • Work closely with Medical Research and Medical Affairs staff to develop global strategy to sustain and build our scientific collaborations and reputations.
  • Aid in the development and execution of the global strategy for scientific representation at industry meetings and conferences.
  • Assist in executing payments and milestones for research studies as well as KOL engagements.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Providing support for contracts, auditing and logistics of resources to support the scientific and analytical performance of our products globally.
  • Understand and help coordinate a strategy for KOL (Key Opinion Leader) network engagement to support our value proposition and collaborate on scientific initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Global Medical Director, Director of Scientific Affairs, peers, US Commercial team, and US Marketing to execute strategies that support and demonstrate the division’s value proposition.
  • Support scientific representation at key industry and laboratory meetings by coordinating global scientific engagements, abstract/poster submissions, and publication requirements.
  • This position will report to the Director of Core Medical Excellence. They will work closely with Medical Research and Medical Affairs as well as Licensing, Legal, Finance and Compliance to support scientific engagements and strategy.  They will also support external scientific engagements that support the division’s products and the overall medicine community.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) ideally Biology or similar scientific major An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years in research, scientific studies or medical education.
